OK, in answer to my own question, I tried running the ScreamerNet II client
software on the same machine that would be a host for ScreamerNet.

It detected 2 systems (correct) and started the Screamer Render.

The remote system worked as normal.  The , uh, "home" client thought it was
rendering frames at one per second, pretty good, since the other was doing
13 minutes per frame.

Obviously this is wrong.  Anybody have any input?
